The Rest You Need to Change the World

Know * Grow * Glow!

Live a life that lights you up

Discover ways to rest based on the Self-Development Triad facets of your Glow to grow your glow within your busy life-filled life.

Hi Reader!

It has been a tumultuous start to the new year, at least here in the US. Between the fires in California, the social app shifts and power plays, and the state of leadership in our country, every facet of our glow has been impacted.

I've stayed off all socials and news for the past 2 days as my own act of self-preservation and rest. Not sure when I'm going to venture back on them.

But I feel like these events are activating something within the collective, and we've got to be rested in order to persevere.

This month I have encouraged us all to start this new year from a place of rest before deciding on and taking aligned action toward our goals. (Read here to revisit last week)

Our final glow triad includes our-

  • Sense of Knowingness
  • Sense of Growth + Expansion
  • Sense of Fulfillment, Purpose + Regeneration

These facets speak to personal evolution and deeper self-awareness and creates the Self-Development Triad.

If you haven't already, now is a good time to download the free mini-course and create your own Glow Map.

If we’re missing the kinds of rest that meets our needs in these areas, we risk feeling trapped or depleted before we even begin taking action toward our dreams this year.

Sense of Knowingness

Knowingness is about trusting your inner voice and wisdom—tuning in to that gut feeling or intuitive nudge.

Rest for this area might include moments of silent reflection, meditation, or unplugging from external opinions so you can better hear your own.

My daily walk, even in the frigid temperatures, has been a space for rest this week. I felt notably lighter mentally when I stepped back inside and shucked off all of the layers to fend off the cold.

When you give yourself space to listen inwardly, self-doubt quiets, and you strengthen the relationship with your inner compass. This clarity reinforces your ability to act confidently on heart-led goals, guided by what you truly know within.

  • Mental Rest—Question Release: Before sleeping, write down all the questions swirling in your mind (about life, decisions, anxieties) and physically close the notebook. Symbolically let your mind rest, trusting answers may come later.
  • Spiritual Rest—“Inner Voice” Moments: Sit in a quiet space and ask yourself a simple, open-ended question (“What do I need right now?”). Wait in silence for any gentle whispers of intuition to arise, embracing a restful approach to insight.

Sense of Growth + Expansion

This is about learning new skills, exploring fresh perspectives, and pushing your boundaries in healthy, inspiring ways.

Rest here typically involves providing your mind and soul with downtime to process learning—like taking a step back from constant striving or absorbing new material slowly rather than in big, stressful chunks.

With the book I'm currently reading, it's giving me a ton of ideas and 'ahas' but instead of taking furious notes, I'm underlining what's catching my heart IN THE ACTUAL BOOK so I go back later and write out what still resonates.

In this restful space, you integrate lessons more deeply and avoid burnout from “always reaching.” Replenished, you can expand with renewed curiosity, confidently pursuing the next stage of your personal or professional evolution.

  • Mental Rest—Gentle Growth Journaling: Write freely about areas where you’d like to grow, but don’t set any action plan yet. Just acknowledge the desire for expansion. This mental rest step fosters acceptance of where you are while nurturing the seed of growth.
  • Environmental Rest—Explore a New Space Slowly: Visit a local spot you’ve never been to (a park, a library) but move slowly, simply taking in the newness without expectation. This mild adventure feeds your sense of expansion without overexertion.

Sense of Fulfillment, Purpose + Regeneration

Here, the focus is on what truly lights you up and contributes meaning to your life—your “why.”

Rest in this category may look like setting aside reflective time to reconnect with your passions or engaging in a small creative outlet that feels purposeful without pressure.

For me, this doing some dreamy thinking about what I truly want to flourish this year, full of belief around what's possible. This is aligned with the energy of the Human Design New Year and Lunar New Year, signifying new beginnings.

Such regenerating activities refuel your sense of direction and enthusiasm, reminding you why you care about your dreams in the first place. With fulfillment replenished, you’re better equipped to pursue purposeful goals that align with your heart’s deepest desires.

  • Spiritual Rest—Purpose Post-It Notes: Place small notes with words or symbols that remind you of your greater purpose around your home or workspace. Let these gentle reminders ease the pressure to strive and simply invite reflection.
  • Mental Rest—Mindful Inspiration Pause: Schedule a daily 5-minute pause (maybe around lunchtime) to close your eyes, breathe slowly, and let your mind wander to purposeful visions. This break rekindles your sense of fulfillment without forcing productivity.

If you’re pushing yourself to expand but never pausing to reflect or rest, you can miss the very insights that guide your path.

By committing to small, restorative actions, you prime yourself to hear what your heart truly wants—like a gentle whisper leading you toward a more fulfilled life.
