Hi Reader!
I have to be transparent with you.
I am not where I thought I'd be by now.
Three years ago, it became evident that we had reached a moment where something needed to change.
- Struggling to navigate consistent childcare
- Feeling drained by work that wasn't lighting me up
- Pressure to launch a business in the middle of a busy life
Leaving my career had been a feeling in my heart for a while, but never seemed like a possibility.
Until my husband and I had THE TALK and I dared to say what I felt.
Giving Feelings a Voice
Now this makes it sound like it was some big sit down thing.
It reality, it happened while we were driving up north for a a weekend away.
Kids were watching something on the iPad and we had an actual moment of time where we could have an actual conversation, buoyed by the feeling of a break from reality.
Talking about 'all the things' that we finally had some capacity and bandwidth to address.
And answering a simple question with what my heart had been telling me, but I'd been afraid to say out loud.
'Have you considered leaving your job?'
Yes (gulp)
Once that option was out in the open, things moved quickly.
I put in my notice. Completed my two weeks. Wrapped up a 15 year career. In the span of that time, BOTH of our part-time childcarers quit for personal reasons.
And suddenly I had a total life and identity shift without the benefit of a transition buffer (or a clue what I was in for).
Reality Check
I was drained and burnt out from my day job, feeling like an imposter in my business and overwhelmed by the constant needs of my young kids, with little time left over for me.
(My daily walk streak is what created a sliver of sanity through it all.)
I wish I had my Glow framework back then.
I wish I had a way to make me feel like I knew where I was going.
I wish I knew how to do a simple check in with myself so I could know what I needed to help me feel more like I was flourishing instead of floundering.
While I didn't have those things then, I was using what I knew, tried what sounded good and kept repeating what worked.
And slowly but surely, things have been falling into place.
Turns out, my journey has taken me places I never would have dreamed.
And as my heart leads me toward what's next, I'm much more prepared to take care of the motivating force that's going to get me there.

Those moments though added fuel to my purpose. To figure it out so that other women could truly know their Glow and use it to navigate their life with more capacity, clarity and confidence.
To be the heroine of their own journey, and a guide for others along the way.
Lots of things are coming together lately, and while it has felt frustrating that things have taken longer than I thought they should, I also know that this journey is the thing that makes it unfold in the way it's meant to.
To kickstart this, I revamped my free One-Minute Glow Check with an introduction to the Restore | Align | Expand glow cycle and tips for noticing your own remedies to address what your glow has to tell you.
Ask yourself-
- What part of my journey is taking longer than expected?
- What part of me doesn't feel like it could handle the success of my dreams becoming reality?
- How am I supporting and replenishing my energy so that I have the capacity to do more than survive the day?
- What's a question I'm afraid to share the answer to?
Reader, our sense of security has been challenged on many fronts lately, from the homefront to world stage.
Now more than ever, it's important that we check in with our glow and learn to open the communication between our head and our heart.
Take care of your glow so your glow can lead the way.
p.s. Do yourself a favor and download the glow check in. And forward this to a friend who you know could use some support handling 'all the things' right now.
