Hi Reader!
This weekend we experienced a big shift, at least for most of us in the United States. I'm not talking about anything you've seen making headlines.
I'm talking about Daylight Saving Time.
This hour shift highlights the perception and value of time and the attunement we have to the patterns in our surroundings.
We notice how our mornings are suddenly darker, that our sense of time about when we are in day is shifted and that can make us feel a little wobbly, especially if you are a signal-sensitive person.
Now I'm definitely not mad about our evenings feeling longer (and my daily walks are in more daylight than twilight).
But in just the couple days I've noticed that it's taking some getting used to and my Physical Glow and Sensory Glow are adjusting.
My sleep bank is still recovering from the loss of an hour and it's weird getting up before the sun again.
I had a pretty good sense about what time it was based on the morning light (and whether we were late for getting up for our on-campus school days.)
As you read this, I likely made sure to set an alarm just to be sure in case our circadian rhythms aren't in sync with our morning routines yet.
Because our Rhythmic Glow is adjusting to the new light signals that set the rhythm of our day so that's been setting off a trigger for our Emotional Glow.
All of this to say, that it's valuable to notice the ripple effects of things that affect our Glow. When you know your Glow, it helps you 'see' how these invisible things affect your life.
This is critical for when perceptive people feel lost in stable-looking systems. It’s often because you’re sensing cracks others have learned to ignore.
With this awareness, you know that what you can name, you can tame, the signature move behind the Reclaim season of the Glow Compass.
Knowing this season helps you orient your energy and know what moves will support your Glow.
Want to know more about your Glow Compass and the signature move for each direction your energy is oriented? The Glow Foundations course builds that foundation with you, right in the middle of your busy life.
Your Adventure of the Week
What patterns felt a shift this week?
Even if you didn't experience a time change, notice how your Rhythms have shifted since December.
What 'winter' activities or patterns are starting to feel stale?
What 'spring' activities are ready to rotate in?
Being more conscious about these invisible shifts helps you feel more agency and autonomy in life, making it feel like it's happening FOR you, not TO you.
It also helps you feel oriented in where you're going, what's up next, which builds confidence and stability.
Something we all can use a dose of these days.
Ask yourself-
- What are some old patterns that need to be shifted?
- How can you make energetic space for the changes that are inevitably coming?
- What feelings does it bring up when that stability shifts?
- What does your nervous system need to feel oriented again?
Taking moments to truly contemplate these questions is one way you can support your Glow, especially when stable foundations are feeling shaky.
Reader, this week is going to be a double doozy when I fly out to Seattle to see my sister and feel the jet lag, but I'm so excited.
Sometimes pattern disruption can feel good, but it is important to take a moment to notice the ripple effects so you can replenish that Glow and regain that confidence that comes with stability.
Here's to smoother days ahead,
p.s. it's okay if things are feeling discombobulated lately. Take a moment and listen to what your Glow is telling you to help you orient.
Three things that are adding more 'yay' to my day this week-
